Safe Recharging

NEVER ATTEMPT TO CHARGE A BATTERY WITHOUT FIRST READING THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE OF THE SPECIFIC CHARGER.

In addition to the instructions provided by the charger manufacturer, the following general precautions must be followed:

  • Never attempt to charge a battery while it is still in the vehicle.

  • Always wear proper eye, face, and hand protection.

  • Always charge the battery in a well-ventilated area.

  • Turn off the charger and timer before connecting to the battery to avoid the dangerous creation of sparks.

  • Never attempt to charge a visibly damaged or frozen battery.

  • Connect the charger terminals to the battery; connect the red positive (+) terminal to the positive (+) battery terminal and the black negative (-) terminal to the negative (-) battery terminal.

  • Ensure that the charger cables are not damaged, frayed, or poorly secured.

  • Set the timer, turn on the charger, and gradually increase the charging rate until the desired amperage is reached.

If the battery gets excessively hot or there is a sudden release of gas or electrolyte splattering, reduce the charging rate or temporarily turn off the charger.
