NEVER ATTEMPT TO CHARGE A BATTERY WITHOUT FIRST READING THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE OF THE SPECIFIC CHARGER.
In addition to the instructions provided by the charger manufacturer, the following general precautions must be followed:
Never attempt to charge a battery while it is still in the vehicle.
Always wear proper eye, face, and hand protection.
Always charge the battery in a well-ventilated area.
Turn off the charger and timer before connecting to the battery to avoid the dangerous creation of sparks.
Never attempt to charge a visibly damaged or frozen battery.
Connect the charger terminals to the battery; connect the red positive (+) terminal to the positive (+) battery terminal and the black negative (-) terminal to the negative (-) battery terminal.
Ensure that the charger cables are not damaged, frayed, or poorly secured.
Set the timer, turn on the charger, and gradually increase the charging rate until the desired amperage is reached.
If the battery gets excessively hot or there is a sudden release of gas or electrolyte splattering, reduce the charging rate or temporarily turn off the charger.
